I’ve wanted to add a home tour to the blog for a long time and my recent guest post at Worthing Court fueled that fire. But I want to do this house tour a little differently than most you see. The reality is that I love my house, but we still have a ton of things on our to-do list. Some rooms more than others, but every room is a work in progress. Budget and time constraints mean that things happen gradually around here.
I want to add a new series to the blog, ‘A Walk Around the House’. Each week, we’ll go through a different room. I’ll show any before pictures we have, pictures of what it looks like now and details about what we’ve done so far. And then… I’ll go through what we still have left to do in the room. Some of the tasks are small dollar, high impact projects; some are pie in the sky and dreaming tasks. Some of the projects I can complete myself in a few hours time, some require the help of my talented and handy hubby. Some projects may be completed by experienced professionals. Some will be completed in the next 6 months, some may be completed in the next 6 years.
We all have to-do lists for our home, right? I am hopeful that this blog series will allow me to truly document our home improvements and changes. This is the house my boys will remember growing up in. This is their home. I hope that one day they’ll be able to look back on these entries and play the ‘remember when’ game.
On Facebook this past weekend, I asked readers what they thought of my idea and I was excited that everyone said to go for it. I’d love to hear your thoughts on these rooms and ideas you might have to improve the space. So check back tomorrow for the first room in A Walk Around the House… the Living Room.
