The guests have gone home, the Thanksgiving food is long gone and I packed our fall decorations away to make room for Christmas. Thanksgiving was wonderful… full of family time and yummy food. I won’t lie to y’all… it was also wonderful because we finished the powder room renovation with hours to spare Wednesday night. It was so nice not to cringe in humiliation every time someone opened the door to the powder room. It felt so strange to instead beam in pride at the transformation.
If you’re interested in a full recap of the “before”, you can read all about that here. In fact, to fully appreciate what the powder room has become in 10 short days, I’ll remind you with a quick little collage…
So, today, I’m sharing some photographs showing off our new powder room. I’ll do an additional post later this week with details about what we did in the room, side by side before and after shots and how and why we did it (updated: find the details post here ). This before and after transformation was a true renovation… there was no way to work with what we had. Our powder room needed a full re-do, not just a little facelift. Ten days before Thanksgiving, we took to the room with sledgehammers and pry bars. We tore out the vanity, the toilet and the chair rail that went through the room. We were left with a shell… a clean slate. Out of that clean slate, this is what we created… (get ready for the photo overload).
I’m proud of what we accomplished in 10 short days… days that we also have to devote to the boys, to our day jobs and to getting ready for family arriving for Thanksgiving. It is without a doubt our most dramatic transformation in the six years we’ve lived in this house… and left me itching to get started on the next one.
